Black Night

The moon is ascending into the black night
The stars glimmer in the inky abyss
Heedless of the vast heavenly sight
Heart musings invade, but remain amorphous
Forlorn in the spirit, I seek You
Wishing to transcend this wretched place
With Your boundless mercy You can subdue
My trembling heart and grant me sufficient grace
While these dark hours tarry ceaselessly on
I yearn for Your incandescence unending
Even when it seems like all hope is gone
I know Your sovereign will is unfolding
I am beset by unforeseen trials
And I place them all before Your thrown
Though I suffer through them all the while
I cannot bear these burdens on my own
I will not withhold anything from You
I surrender to You my life, my all
I will search for Your wisdom in all that I do
You will catch me if by chance I fall
Nightfall is departing; dawn’s light streaks the sky
I marvel with the sun’s gleaming rays
You have given my heart wings that I might fly
With You for all of my day
